Rise and shine people! It’s time to explore Athens. We did just that!

We spread out and did our own thing. Funny thing, we ended up doing the same thing. The hop on and off bus ride through Athens. Remember this is a city, care needs to be taken but again they value their tourist industry and everyone is helpful. Even the police officers who don’t speak English. They sent us in the wrong direction. Jen and I were walking to the a Metro (subway) when we got turned around. These 2 older men were walking slowly down the road. They stopped and gave us directions and the older one thought he could get a little pinch in of my bottom as a thank you for giving us directions. chairo poly (nice to meet you!) Off we went in search of our bus stop.

When you have a short time in a city, this is an economical way to see the highlights of the city. 18 euros and we saw The Parthenon, Acropolis, Hadrians Arch, Museums, the Plaka, Piraeus (The Port), the Monasteraki Flea Market, the University, Temples. Theatre of Dionysus, on and on it went. A lot of ruins, history and beauty.

Jen jumped off the bus and bought us a couple bottles of water. I decided to give in and bought a hat. I think I found one that actually looks good. You decide.

We walked through the Plaka again and headed back to the same restaurant we had lunch at yesterday in order to indulge in another Greek Salad.

Afterwards, we relocated to the rooftop pool and that’s where we planted ourselves for the rest of the day and evening. The view of the Acropolis at night is incredible. Warm breezes caress our bodies, cool waters soothe our travel-weary feet and provide relief from the warm, Mediterranean heat.

We met a nice couple today from Beaconsville, Quebec. Richard and Andrea who are celebrating their anniversary.

Back to our room we set up a buffet of leftovers and wine and headed back to our rooms to dream of our upcoming Greek cruise. Pick up is 830 am.
