Cousin Shannon is considering a trip to Türkiye (tur-kee-ay) or the Republic of Turkey next month. I suggest if she wants a travel buddy, I am willing. Thankfully she accepts. Food, family, adventure, hot air balloons? What is there not to love? Once the stars align with Shannon’s work, we are booked, and the countdown begins. The biggest decision for me is carry-on or suitcase. More to come on that.
Isn’t planning one of the best phases of a trip? I usually spend weeks conducting in-depth research into the countries and sites I will visit. I have spreadsheets, checklists, financials, etc. I don’t know if there is an official term for this, but we call it the Murphy Organizational Gene (MOG). Also, I am usually an independent traveller but this trip will be an organized small group tour. As a self-proclaimed foodie, I can’t wait to try the tasty morsels that await us as this trip is listed as a food adventure.
Shannon takes the lead on this one and I am happy to oblige. Giving up the reins is not easy for me, but I trust Shannon. We travel well together and she has the MOG too! Shannon has booked us an additional hotel stay in Istanbul on the front end and a private transfer from the airport to the hotel.
Less than a month to go and we will arrive in Istanbul, Turkey. The biggest decision for me is carry-on or a suitcase. More to come on that. No significant research, just decide and fly!
